Hello, everyone!!! I haven't updated much lately, so today I thought I'd lay out a large update of what's been going on the past couple of months!! They've been INTERESTING to say the LEAST!
Let's see... I guess I should start at the beginning of August with Jeremy's happenings. He started off the month having to attend a work conference in Atlanta for the week, in which he came home with an odd bite on his leg that resulted in a doctor's visit and a lot of meds! Right after, he jumped on his bike to join our friend, Jon Taylor, on a Motorcyle trip to Kentucky! It's a yearly event called the LEGION RIDE where they travel across country - people joining on and doing legs along the way. He's wanted to go for a while and finally got to this year and had a great time! Unfortunately the meds made him EXTREMELY sensitive to the sunlight, which resulted in a pretty bad burn on the face - OUCH! Once back, he headed to TX for another work conference and finally got back the weekend AFTER his birthday (the 27th). With September, came a visit from his family for Labor Day. His mom, brother, Aunt Jani and family friend Debbie came out to see our new house and to take in the sites. While they were here, Jeremy learned of his father's passing from cancer and had to go home to IL for the services. While there, his Uncle Paul fell down the stairs, broke his neck, and passed away from the brain swelling. So it's been a rough time for him this past week and he just got home today. Emotionally drained, but glad to be back home and have the week behind him.
August began the start of my new job at George Mason High School and Fall cheerleading for me. I began my job on the 5th as the Assistant to the Assistant Principals/Discipline Secretary and it began slow. The people are great, though, and I love the energy that comes with the students!! I also took 15 of my 20 girls to cheerleading camp at Virginia Tech from the 6th-9th, where they won the COVETED spirit BANANA and the Most Improved Squad of the 20 at camp!! Once I came back, regular cheer practices began. A week or so into the season, one of my girls fell from a stunt I was backspotting onto the back of my head and neck, causing the complete STRAIGHTENING of my cervical spine (normally CURVED) and a sprain of all the surrounding muscles. I was put in a neck brace, on a few VERY happy meds, and ordered to stay home for a few days. I'm much better now, however it's been a long process of recovering and I'm still on light duty at work! The end of the month brought a trip to the Boyds Bear Barn in Gettysburg for the Longaberger Fall Festival (I've wanted to go for years and a night out to the Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum (LOVE THEM) concert at Nissan Pavillion :-)
September has now come and school has begun! My cheerleaders really made people take notice of the growing program at their first football game last week and their first pep rally/home game last night!! As you can see above, the school has received them well and it's only getting better! I'm very proud of all they've accomplished!!
So as you can tell, life has been a mix of everything lately!! Travel fatigue, PAIN, grief, pride, and anticipation. We're sorry to have been so out of touch lately, but hopefully this will update you all. Now we're getting ready for Halloween and the possible arrival of Bradley to Virginia!! (I can dream!) In the meantime, we hope things will settle down a bit so we can catch up on being lazy and enjoy the start of all our new Fall TV shows :-)
You can see a lot of the pictures of my girls and the Longaberger Festival on my facebook page!!
