Commander-n-Chief Inaugural Ball - January 20, 2009

So it probably won't be a shock to hear that last night was one of the most amazing experiences Jeremy and I have ever had!!! It was truly a fantastic night and one I will never forget. The ball was for military personnel only and was held at the National Building Museum (by far one of the most beautiful event venues in DC).

Jeremy and I met a few other couples from Chicago and claimed a spot in the VERY FRONT of the stage where we camped out for the next 3.5 hours until President Obama arrived. While we waited, we were entertained by American Idol Season 6 winner, Jordin Sparks, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Groban, Smoky Robinson and comedians George Lopez & Chris Tucker (who Jeremy shook hands with). Vice President Biden arrived first and stayed for about 10 minutes and President Obama followed about an hour later.

When he arrived, I admit I was near tears. I just couldn't believe that we were there witnessing one of the greatest events in American history. He spoke with some IL National Guardsman in Afghanistan via Satellite - which became a Cubs vs. Sox vote (YES! CUBS WON!) and ended with him introducing Michelle to the stage. She truly is stunning! The night almost took a horrifying turn when I noticed after VP Biden left that my camer battery was running low... but it managed to hold out until President Obama left - it was just meant to be! But that is why I couldn't get better shots... I took what I could get!

There simply are no words to explain the incredible experience - humbling is truly the only word that comes to mind. I am so honored that I got to attend such an awesome event and wish so much that you all could have shared it with us. I hope all of you were able, in some way, to share in this day with those closest to you.

Where was MY ticket?! I didn't work that day! WTF?!

Haha, just kidding.

I'm happy you got to be there for that! I'm extremely jealous--but very happy for you.
